Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When does registration open and close?
A: Registration period opens 3/1 and closes no later than 8/31. Programs may close sooner based on enrollment. There is an early bird discount for registrations completed in March and April. A late fee applies if registered after 6/30. All registrations must be completed online. FAYFCA cannot accept registrations after 9/1.

Q: What are the age requirements for the divisions?
A: Football Eligibility

Flags: Players may not turn 7 prior to July 1st of the league year
Mighty Mites: Ages 7 and 8, may not turn 9 prior to July 1st of the league year
Mites: Ages 9 and 10, may not turn 11 prior to July 1st of the league year
Midgets: Ages 11 and 12, may not turn 13 prior to July 1st of the league year
*All 8th graders must play on the Middle School team regardless of age

A. Cheerleading Eligibility

Flags: Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten
Mighty Mites: 1st and 2nd grade
Mites: 3rd and 4th grade
Midgets: 5th and 6th grade

Q: What are the practice and game day schedules?
A: Practices start first full week of August
Tackle football practices held Mon, Tues, Wed & Thurs from 6pm to 8pm (until school starts)
Flag football practices held Tues, Wed, & Thurs from 6pm to 7:30pm (until school starts)
Tackle levels practice 3 days/week after school starts (Tues, Wed, Thurs) and Flags practice TBD
Practice location: Richmond YMCA at 14432 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood (along Rt 222)
Game schedule will be announced by end of August.
Season typically begins weekend after Labor Day
At least a 7 game regular season , top 4 teams make playoffs (2 additional weekends)
All home games played at Fleetwood High School stadium (407 N Richmond St, Fleetwood, PA 19522)
Most games played on Sundays

Q: What type of equipment is required to purchase?
A: FAYFCA will supply the following items to each player or cheerleader for the season and is required to turn back in at the end of the season:
Football Player:
Helmet
Shoulder pads
Game day jersey
Game day pants
Rib pads
1 Mouth guard w/ tether
Items purchased by you:
Practice jersey
Cleats
Socks

Cheerleader:
Shell
Skirt
Underlay
Hair bow
Items purchased by you:
Cheer sneakers
Socks
Warm up jacket (optional)

Q: What is the pet policy?
A: FAYFCA is located on Richmond YMCA property and they have a NO DOGS ALLOWED POLICY. If you have a medical reason for your dog to be present, please see a board member and bring the applicable paperwork.  

Q: What is the Complaint/Grievance Policy?
A: While we all do our best to satisfy everyone, we know that is not always possible. If you have a complaint, we ask that you follow the protocol below:
1) The 24-Hour Rule should always be followed. If you are unhappy, please wait 24 hours for your nerves to settle before approaching anyone.
2) Any complaints should then be referred to your Head Coach. Please speak to the coach privately. Away from children & other parents.
3) If you do not get a satisfactory resolution, you should then consult the Coordinator or President.
4) If you are still dissatisfied, you have the right to file a formal complaint in writing to the Board of Directors.

A: North Division: Fleetwood, Hamburg, Kutztown, Oley Valley, Schuylkill Valley
South Division: Conrad Weiser, Myerstown, Muhlenberg, Pequea Valley
